The California Federation of Teachers Committee on Political Education (CFT COPE) bases its candidate recommendations on candidate interviews and their records and stated positions relating to public education and labor issues. CFT COPE makes its proposition recommendations
by analyzing the potential impact of the ballot measure on public education and services, its potential impact on the ability of the CFT membership to serve the public (if applicable), and by assessing whether the ballot measure would improve the lives of most Californians.
