Important Benefits Information |
|||||||
Colleagues, I know that the beginning of the semester is a busy time, but I hope you can find a few minutes to focus on an important health benefits matter. SISC is increasing the premiums on all our plans by 8% -13%. If you're on plan A or C, there's nothing CCFT can do to reduce these premium increases. We tried. The premium increase to plan A will be $96 per month; the increase to plan C will be $69 per month. That’s in addition to the out-of-pocket amount you’ve been paying. However, if you're on plan B or D, or decide to move to plan B or D during the proposed upcoming open enrollment period, we have the chance to reduce the amount of the premium increase by making changes to these two plans. The premium increase to plan B without the changes explained below will be $93 per month; with the changes the increase will be $26. The premium increase to plan D without the changes will be $49 per month; with the changes there will be no increase. In fact, the monthly premium for plan D with the changes will be $536, which is $71.24 below the District contribution of $634.24. The changes to plan B raise the office visit co-pay to $30 (in the current version of plan B it’s $20) and add a deductible to the prescription drug plan (there’s no prescription deductible in the current version of plan B). The addition of a deductible to plan B’s prescription drug benefits is significant and may adversely impact some subscribers. Please consult the documents attached for the details. The change to plan D is in its calendar year deductible, which would increase significantly. Again, please consult the documents attached for details. The CCFT Executive Board will decide whether or not to make the changes to plans B and D based on feedback from our members. Please email your comments to Vice-President, Peet Cocke at pcocke@cuesta.edu by Monday, September 20, noon. The amount of the District’s contribution to our health insurance is currently on the table in negotiations. As you know, the rising cost of health care is a disconcerting issue for all faculty and CCFT is seeking an increase in the District’s contribution to our benefit plans to help mitigate the increase. The members of the Executive Board look forward to receiving guidance from our members on whether or not to make changes to plans B and D. Please let us hear from you. Many thanks for taking the time. Again, We need to receive your comments by Monday, September 20, noon. Go Cougars! Allison Merzon
