Section II.
Responsibilities of CCFT Officers
- The President shall preside over all
meetings of the Board, of the Council of Representatives,
and of the general membership. He/she shall represent the
CCFT to the Board of Trustees of the Community College District
and to all other official bodies. The President, in consultation
with the Executive Board, shall appoint the chairs and membership
of all CCFT standing and ad hoc committees.
- The Vice-President shall assume the responsibilities
of the President if the presidency is vacant or if the President
is unable to attend meetings or represent the CCFT. The
Vice-President is responsible for maintaining the membership
and for heading membership drives. The Vice-President shall
assume other responsibilities as the President or the Executive
Board may require.
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep minutes
of the Executive Board, of the Council of Representatives,
and of general membership meetings; see to the distribution
of the minutes to the CCFT membership; be responsible for
all official correspondence and the keeping of non-monetary
records; and be responsible for the conduct of elections.
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall prepare
annually an itemized budget for presentation to the Executive
Board and to the membership; prepare detailed semester reports
of income and expenditures for presentation to the Board;
be responsible for maintaining all CCFT accounts, filing
all necessary financial statements, and keeping an up-to-date
record of members' payment of dues; and work with the payroll
office to arrange and to ensure the accuracy of payroll
deductions of union dues.
- Voting members of the Executive Board
will also serve as delegates to union conventions. Additional
delegates and alternates to which the CCFT may be entitled
may be appointed by the Executive Board.

Section III.
Chairs and Other Official Responsibilities
- The grievance officer has the primary
responsibility of monitoring the enforcement of the contract.
This responsibility is shared with the Executive Board and
all members of the bargaining unit. The grievance officer
must represent the unit in the contractually mandated grievance
procedure and keep detailed records of each phase of the
procedure.
- The chair of the negotiations committee
is a CCFT member and is the spokesperson for the negotiating
team. He/she helps develop contract proposals/contract modifications
and is responsible for keeping the Executive Board and the
membership informed about negotiations. The Executive Board
may designate an official from the CFT as chief negotiator,
or the chair of the negotiations committee may serve as
chief negotiator.
- The chair of the part-time faculty committee is
responsible for consulting with the temporary faculty and
for bringing their concerns to the Executive Board and to
the chair of the negotiations committee.
- The chair of the Committee on Political Education
(COPE), in consultation with the Executive Board,
is responsible for recruiting candidates for the Board of
Trustees and for recommending endorsements to the Executive
Board. For those local campaigns in which the CCFT is playing
an active role, the chair of COPE is to act as a liaison
between the CCFT and the candidates' organizations. He/she
is also responsible for soliciting donations to candidates
and COPE from CCFT members and for recommending to the Executive
Board expenditures on behalf of a candidate. COPE will also
keep the Executive Board and the general membership informed
about the introduction, status, and final action of bills
at the state and federal levels that pertain to education
at the local level. The committee will also organize letter
writing and other forms of political activity by the CCFT
membership.
- The newsletter editor is responsible
for regular reporting of CCFT news to the membership. He/she
is responsible for all newsletter editorial functions and
for keeping the membership informed about the actions of
the Executive Board, the Council of Representatives, and
committees.
