Negotiating Team 2007-2008
The President shall preside over all meetings of the Board, of the Council of Representatives, and of the general membership. He/she shall represent the CCFT to the Board of Trustees of the Community College District and to all other official bodies. The President, in consultation with the Executive Board, shall appoint the chairs and membership of all CCFT standing and ad hoc committees. |
The Vice-President shall assume the responsibilities of the President if the presidency is vacant or if the President is unable to attend meetings or represent the CCFT. The Vice-President is responsible for maintaining the membership and for heading membership drives. The Vice-President shall assume other responsibilities as the President or the Executive Board may require. |
The Secretary shall keep minutes of the Executive Board, of the Council of Representatives, and of general membership meetings; see to the distribution of the minutes to the CCFT membership; be responsible for all official correspondence and the keeping of non-monetary records; and be responsible for the conduct of elections. |
The Treasurer shall prepare annually an itemized budget for presentation to the Executive Board and to the membership; prepare detailed semester reports of income and expenditures for presentation to the Board; be responsible for maintaining all CCFT accounts, filing all necessary financial statements, and keeping an up-to-date record of members' payment of dues; and work with the payroll office to arrange and to ensure the accuracy of payroll deductions of union dues. |
The grievance officer has the primary responsibility of monitoring the enforcement of the contract. This responsibility is shared with the Executive Board and all members of the bargaining unit. The grievance officer must represent the unit in the contractually mandated grievance procedure and keep detailed records of each phase of the procedure. |
The COPE chair is the political action coordinator and communications director. It is the responsibility of the COPE chairperson to educate the members on political issues important to education and working conditions; to keep members apprised of important issues and elections, and to raise money for COPE Fund and local candidates who are strong on education. An extension of this is to educate the public on issues important to education by writing columns and newsletters on important educational issues and political issues. The Chair also encourages members to participate in local and statewide issues and elections. |
The chair of the part-time faculty committee is responsible for consulting with the temporary faculty and for bringing their concerns to the Executive Board and to the chair of the negotiations committee. |
Council of Representatives Liaisons:Marie Larsen Dana Gough Voting members of the Executive Board will also serve as delegates to union conventions. Additional delegates and alternates to which the CCFT may be entitled may be appointed by the Executive Board. |
