CCFT Executive Board Meeting Minutes
Thursday, 03 April 2008, Room 3143 at 1430
Present: M Rossa, (President), M. Basti (Secretary), M. Robinson, (Treasurer), D. Gough, (Liaison), T Hardiman (VP) & J. Schubert ( PT Chair), E. Conklin (Grievance Officer), Janet Florez (COPE Chair)
Absent: M. Larsen, (Liaison)
1 & 1.2 Call to Order/ Roll Call: A quorum was established and M. Rossa called the meeting to order at 1445.
1.3 Approval of Agenda: Treasurer, PT Chair, and Secretary Reports, CFT Convention delegates added
1.4 Announcements: EB endorsements discussed.
2.0 AFT Convention: This year the conference takes place in Chicago on 8 & 9th of July. After discussion, a motion was made to send M. Rossa, CCFT President to the AFT Convention. Hardiman/Robinson. Motion carried unanimously.
3.0 CFT Convention: Basti reported two members expressed interest in attending the CFT Convention, Lisa Curtis and Hedy Carra. Rossa indicated Curtis informed her she may not be able to attend after all. Jill Schubert, has housing and is interested in attending. Rossa’s expenses are paid by CFT. A motion was made to approve up to four delegates to attend the CFT convention in Oakland next week. Robinson/Gough. Motion carried unanimously.
4.0 Secretary’s Report: Basti reported a third faculty was approved for CLB and HR will be forwarding a financial statement of the CLB activity. Additionally, all five forms for CLB are now available w/ FAQs on the ccft website. Faculty who are part of the CLB should be instructed to download the forms, complete the forms then submit the forms to the CCFT Secretary not HR. The above was discussed w/ Lori Lawson who just retired.
5.0 Treasurer’s Report: Robinson indicated all paper work has finally been completed for CCFT to receive legal defense monies. The last attorney’s bill was $24,000.00
6.0 PT Chair Report: J Schubert successfully set up a PT ccft member listserv. Additionally the Reply function was changed to require ‘Reply All’ if the faculty intends to send their message to the listserv.
7.0 Conference Call with CalPERS: D. Gough coordinated a conference call in Room 3143 w/ Cal PERS representatives. A seven page handout was prepared for Cuesta Community College dated 3 April 2008 which includes history, highlights, eligibility, enrollment, annual renewal, employer contracting, CalPERS health plans. J. Dewing and J. Fetcho were present representing CCCUE. After the conference call the EB discussed the advantages to faculty of being part of a bigger pool of insured and decided to plan a open meeting on 09 April 2008 at 1500 so all faculty, staff, and managers could attend and ask questions of CalPERS representatives. Cuesta College as a public entity is eligible to contract w/ CalPERS similar to Cal Poly, City of Morro Bay, County of SLO, CMC, Atascadero State Hospital and City of Arroyo Grande.
8.0 Adjournment: Rossa called for adjournment at 1605
